Hello there!

What happens when two community college instructors carpool together?  If you’re lucky like we’ve been, great collaboration and grand schemes are hatched.

From the start, we have been discussing the various ways that our two disciplines, Art and English, seem to overlap.  Both the artistic process and the writing process develop a way of seeing the world.  Observation and attention to detail, creativity, and craft are all important to good drawing and good writing.  The more we talked (and drove), the more we thought that we needed to find a way to work together.

Enter our mutual love of traveling.  Linda spent a year living and working in France as a teenager, has traveled throughout Europe, and has had the travel bug ever since.  Phebe lived and traveled throughout Asia, Europe, Latin America, Africa, and must use her passport at least once a year.  The more we talked, the more we got excited about the idea of taking our lovely Everett Community College students on a short term study program to experience the wonders of the world as we have.  After much planning and the generous support of the college, here we are getting ready to fly off to Costa Rica!

As Scribbler (Linda) and Scribe (Phebe), your tour guides to la pura vida, we will be traveling through Costa Rica on assignment from Everett Community College for the next two weeks to develop an affordable study abroad program for our students.  We will stay with host families, visit volcanoes and cloud forests, try ziplining and go on nature hikes to see sloths, toucans, howler monkeys, and hopefully much more.  Follow our adventures to Costa Rica this summer on scribbler & scribe!
